Creobot and generic AI chatbots
There is a broad category of chat widgets that connect a language model to a website with minimal grounding in the site's actual content. This page describes the category rather than any named product.
Status, stated first
Creobot is in development, with a self serve launch targeted for the next month. There is no self serve signup URL yet and pricing is not final. Generic AI chatbots is a shipping product. Any comparison has to start there.
What we have verified
| Point | What we can say |
|---|---|
| No retrieval grounding | A widget that passes the question to a model without retrieving your content answers from general knowledge, which produces confident answers that are not about your product. |
| No refusal path | Without a knowledge boundary, there is nothing to refuse from, so the system answers everything. |
| No gap reporting | If unanswered questions are not recorded as a distinct category, the most valuable output is discarded. |
Where Generic AI chatbots is the better choice
If you want a general purpose conversational presence and grounding in your specific content does not matter, a simpler widget is cheaper and faster to deploy.
Where Creobot differs
The distinction that matters is whether the system knows what it does not know. A grounded assistant with a refusal path will say it cannot answer. An ungrounded one will produce something plausible, and on a pricing or policy question that is worse than silence.
